Sensual Scents: A Medley
June 16th 2006 14:04
Beware the scents of seduction! A room steeped in exotic perfumes sounds much nicer as the excuse for a regrettable evening than, say, drinking a little too much. But you could be entrapped by both!
In the 18th C King George III banned perfume as a form of sorcery, after taking note of how women of ill repute used it to seduce men.
That’s right, witches have broomsticks, black cats, and smell pretty.
Like vanilla, certain scents like jasmine, sandalwood, musk and ylang ylang can trigger sexual response.
Jasmine- Those little white flowers look so pure and innocent, but they have a seriously intoxicating fragrance. Have you ever been surrounded by a jasmine bower in early Spring? Now imagine recreating that in your bedroom… just try not to swoon too soon.
Sandalwood- Spicy, woody, suggestively akin to certain male pheremones.. it has a bright fresh edge, and can be used to treat anxiety.
Musk- Remember those yummy pink sticks? Childhood, innocence. There was a lot they didn’t tell you, not least of which is where musk originally comes from. There’s a reason it will appeal to your animal instincts. It’s a powerful sexual attractant, and whether you can detect it or not it’s the base ingredient of almost all perfumes. And who doesn’t enjoy some sweet things in bed?
Ylang Ylang- Sweet and exuberant, long considered and aphrodisiac and a few drops can melt away a day’s cares. Like sandalwood, but so feminine, it soothes and stimulates simultaneously. Use with caution, it’s almost hypnotic in its effect.
