A traditional favourite. Since the invention and spread of electricity, candles have become (for most of us) a novelty. It’s something special, a deviation from the everyday routine. A potential fire hazard for those of you who like love a little risk. An aid to pleasure if you go for the wax factor.
But most importantly, never underestimate a candle’s effect on the atmosphere of a room. It becomes full of soft shifting shadows and a gentle golden glow. Unless you hold the light directly beneath your chin, everyone looks good in candlelight.
‘Ladies of leisure dress for candlelight by candlelight.’ And ladies of pleasure prefer to undress in candlelight.
If you plan ahead, don’t forget the scented variety. You can make your room smell like a luscious chocolatey heaven with actual chocolate-scented candles, vanilla, musk, toasted coconut.. or flowery fresh with rose, jasmine, lavender.. (if you need to relax). Alternatively, fill a room with the more traditional scents of seduction- aphrodisiac oils like ylang-ylang and sandalwood.
